December was an absolute whirlwind and I don't think we could have possibly squeezed anymore fun into the fourteen days we were here. Santa's workshop was a blast, and Emma
Virjan's reading turned the rainy day room into a major party. Our staff loved the wonderful luncheon arranged by the child care committee co-chairs. Thanks again to them and all of the
TCS parents who volunteered time, food, and money to make this possible. In the classrooms, the creativity was flowing like a river as the children produced masterpiece after masterpiece of green and red glory and learned about family traditions and holiday customs from around the world. Whew! Now let's take a deep breath and dive in to 2009!
Tuesday January 6
th, kicks off our music program. Will
Dupuy is our new music teacher. Will works for Opus One music and is very excited about coming to our school. He teaches music in eleven area schools. I had the opportunity to sit in on a couple of his classes and I love his energy. The children were entertained and highly responsive. The thing I like most about Will is the kind tone he maintains with the children and how he encourages them to participate. If you are interested in enrolling your child in the program, the sign up sheet is in my office. The cost is $25.00 per month and $10.00 for an additional sibling. Checks are payable to The Corner School and are due at the beginning of each month. Classes will be held on Tuesdays from 9 to 11 in the rainy day room. We will combine ages to make three 35 minute classes. Once we establish our routine, I'll send out a schedule so you can come and join in if you'd like. Like all new routines, the first couple of weeks may be a bit shaky. If you are observing or joining in, be prepared for traffic jams in the hall and a bit of stranger anxiety as the children establish trust and bond with our new friend Mr. Will.
In January, we will also begin looking into
re-accreditation for our school. We will explore a few different options. I'll keep you posted as we move through this process.
